30 January 2012

/

We now return to our regular programming...or training schedule. After completing the 2012 Mountain Mist 50K on Saturday (race report to follow later tonight, hopefully), it was back to my regular 100K/100M training regimen. Rich and I had planned to meet at 4:30AM to add another 4 miles to our regular 10 mile out & back mountain run, but we ended up cutting it short.

As Rich and I ascended the mountain, we both felt kinda pooped. While I wasn't in any muscle or joint pain, I was clearly tired from Saturday's race. We both figured it be best if we moved the 14 miler to Friday and settled for 10 miles instead. It was below freezing when we left for the mountain at 4:30AM and I really didn't feel quite awake, yet. Richard looked the same. However, as we continued to climb up Tollgate Trail, I started to feel better and better. By the time we reached the top, I was back to my old self. However, I was still glad we decided to just do 10 today.

By the time we arrived back and Richard's house, we had actually made up quite a bit of time on the way down. Don't get me wrong, we were slow, but we weren't terribly slow and I was glad to have been able to continue my training as planned, even after Saturday's mudfest;-)
