My training schedule called for a slow 8 miles at sub 8:30 pace. I had waited until after I got home from work to get today's run in. The weather was not pleasant in the morning with showers, thunderstorms and tornado warnings looming, so I opted for an afternoon run.
I took off from my house just before 5PM to make sure I got back in time to have dinner with my better half. I guess not wanting to be late made me run a little faster than absolutely necessary and instead of hovering just below 8:30 pace, I decided to run the maximum pace suggested for this run at 8:10 pace. I felt pretty good throughout the run and was once again relying on my trusty old MP3 player to keep me entertained while dodging cars on the university campus. I had completed my workout before I knew it and started to thing about the upcoming workout right away. Tomorrow's workout: 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down with 5 miles at 6:58-7:18 minute per mile pace.
