I definitely needed my music today. It's been kind of a crutch for me, since I hadn't been doing a lot of solitary running workouts until just recently, when I started to training for a BQ marathon time at Rocket City.
After much internal conflict (the temps were really chilly this morning), I left the house at 6:30ish AM to get my 5 mile tempo run in. I started with a 1 mile warm up, followed by 5 miles at sub 7:18 pace. When I completed the warm up mile and turn onto the campus, ice-cold wind started to hit me in the face immediately. I knew I was in for a tough workout.
Half of the loop, I would continue to battle the cold winds and the other half I would try to make up some time I'd lost battling the wind. While temperatures were supposed to be in the high 30s, they really felt much colder. Even though I was doing a tempo run, breaking a sweat, it felt much colder that I thought it should. Oh well, I got it done, just in time to have a quick cup of coffee before heading to the office.
