After doing some cross training yesterday on my vintage 1972 Schwinn Continental road bike in preparation for the Summer Sizzler Super Metric Century Bike Ride on Saturday, it was time again to hit the road for some running. My training schedule called for an easy 5 miler and that's what I did.
I decided to run the UAH figure 8 loop again and to keep my pace around 8:30 per mile. I ran at 5PM, which was probably the worst time of the day I could have chosen. The temps hit 100 degrees just when I walked out the door to start my run. While I didn't struggle to complete my run at the required pace, the stifling heat and humidity did make me wanna turn around after just one mile. I guess the trick is to just keep going and hope to get over it.
