Richard stopped by my house at 9AM. Initially, we had planned a run to Decatur but these plans changed for reasons outside our control and we decided to just do an out & back from my house. As soon as Richard arrived, I realized that he was still not anywhere near over his bronchitis. So after going out for 16 as originally planed, we cut it short and logged just over 7 miles. The weather reallt didn't help our efforts either. While it was freezing cold as we headed out for our run, the wind was blowing into our backs nicely so we were actually kind of pushed along.
After having run half of the planned distance and adding a little trail loop along a canal and through some unknown neighborhoods, we really started to freeze as we turned into the wind. It was time to turn around to head back to my house and we really got a taste of what the wind combined with the cold temps (low 30s) was like. Neither Richard nor I were dressed for the occasion. The wind slowly but surely dominated the remainder of the run. All I could think of was the wind, how cold it was and how it felt like it was cutting my skin. I am contemplating running a local 10K this afternoon just to get some more mileage as I am not feeling fast right now, but the weather still looks bleak and I am not sure I want to do this to myself again.
